Meet the Expressway baby

Within an hour of the start of her labour, she gave birth to a healthy baby girl inside her husband's truck.

The drama happened on Nov 23, eight minutes after the couple left their home at about 11.30pm. As her husband, Mr Robert Hong, sped along the Seletar Expressway (SLE) towards the hospital, Madam Yvonne Chong, 31, who works in sales, could see her baby's head.

She lay down sideways on the passenger seat, reached out and grabbed the baby's neck. As her shoulders slid out, she held the infant's armpits and safely guided her out.

By 11.40pm, her second child, Roxelle Hong, was born. Place of birth? "Along SLE Express Way Singapore", according to what is stated in the birth certificate.

Both mother and daughter are doing fine.
