After the bite: What now for Suarez?
With everyone watching, Luis Suarez stunned the whole world when he sunk his teeth into the shoulder of Italy's Giorgio Chiellini during their World Cup match this morning (Singapore time).
Unsurprisingly, Fifa have charged the nippy Uruguayan striker for his indiscretion while media outlets everywhere are calling for lengthy ban.
Here's the lowdown on what lies in store for Suarez:
1) What exactly has Fifa charged Suarez with?
If you read Fifa's statement on Suarez's charge, you could be forgiven for not knowing what was being said with all the legalese.
The Uruguayan has been charged with misconduct against an opponent as well as offensive behaviour and fair play.
2) What sort of punishment is he facing?
According to the Fifa Disciplinary Code, Suarez is facing a ban of up to 24 matches or two years if found guilty as well as a fine of up to 1 million Swiss francs ($1.4m).
3) Will a ban affect his club career?
It could. While suspensions are usually kept within a competition, Fifa reserves the right to apply any ban on a worldwide basis if it deems the offence serious enough.
National and continental football bodies can also give Fifa the power to do so by making a request.
