Alli: Don't rule Tottenham out for the title

TOTTENHAM HULL CITY

Tottenham Hotspur will be among the teams fighting for the Premier League title this season despite their recent problems, midfielder Dele Alli said.

Spurs have failed to build on a strong start to the campaign, winning three of their last 13 games to exit the Champions League and slip to fifth in the table, 10 points behind leaders Chelsea.

"We are a team who are confident in ourselves, we fancy ourselves against anyone," Alli told Sky Sports.

"We need to be a little bit more consistent. We are still working on it and we are still working together as a team.

"We have a great side and we are happy to sit under the radar and just keep picking up points.

"It is no good being good in halves of games or in one game and not in the next one. When we find our rhythm, I am sure we will be a great team again."

Tottenham, who lost 1-0 to Manchester United last Sunday, host Hull City tomorrow morning (Singapore time).

REDKNAPP'S BACKING

Harry Redknapp believes his former club will finish in the top four and can even still win the Premier League this season.

Spurs missed the chance to move into the top four after their loss to United when a win would have taken them above Manchester City on goal difference, but Redknapp insists Spurs will come good.

Speaking to talkSPORT, the 69-year-old said: "I love (Mauricio) Pochettino, he's a very clever guy.

"I wouldn't swop that group for any other group. They'll make the (top) four. They can win it, it's still wide open."

Chelsea and Arsenal, in first and second, are starting to pull away from the chasing pack - with the Blues six points clear of third-placed Liverpool.

But Redknapp insists there are no team who can claim to be head and shoulders above every other side in the league.

"Chelsea have been fantastic, but they're not a certainty to win it," he said.

"I couldn't say there's one team who are on a completely different level to the rest.

"Man City, we felt at the start of the year, would be that team maybe, but they're certainly not looking like it at the moment.

"Arsenal are playing very well, they look excellent at the moment, but Tottenham will be close." - WIRE SERVICES
