Beckham hits out at critics over daughter's pacifier

David Beckham has hit out at at Mail Online after the British newspaper ran a story criticising his decision to let his four-year-old daughter Harper use a pacifier.

The former Manchester United superstar was photographed on an afternoon out in West Hollywood with Harper, who had a pink pacifier in her mouth.

The Mail Online described the item as a "controversial accessory" because Harper is "well beyond the age" that health experts would recommend for using a pacifier.

According to the article, babies should not need to use a pacifier after three months.

Parenting experts interviewed by the Mail said that Beckham and wife Victoria were putting Harper's speech development at risk and were potentially damaging her teeth by allowing to continue using a pacifier at her age.

However, the 40-year-old ex-Real Madrid man took to Instagram to hit back at his critics, whom he felt had no right to tell him how to do his job as a parent.

Beckham's post attracted a host of support from netizens, who urged him to continue doing what he felt was right for his children.

Harper is the youngest of the Beckham's four children.
