Di Maria too expensive for PSG
Paris Saint-Germain have been priced out of a move for Real Madrid winger Angel di Maria.
The 26-year-old midfielder had been tipped to depart the Santiago Bernabeu following the arrival of Colombian World Cup star James Rodriguez from Monaco for £63 million ($132.7m).
While mega-rich PSG were believed to be the front-runners to sign di Maria - who also had an outstanding World Cup campaign with Argentina - the French club's need to comply with Uefa's financial fair play regulations have seen them drop out of the running.
"We spoke with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, but Di Maria was too expensive and we stopped talks," said PSG president and owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi.
Ironically, the Qatari sports businessman was speaking at the official unveiling for Brazilian defender David Luiz, a £50m acquisition from Chelsea.
