Ex-Real defender claims Messi won't retire at Barcelona
Lionel Messi is such an icon at Barcelona, it's impossible to imagine him ever leaving the La Liga giants till the day he finally hangs up his boots.
However, former Argentine footballer Gabriel Heinze is one person who can picture the four-time world player of the year playing elsewhere before he calls time on his illustrious career.
The ex-Real Madrid and Manchester United defender, who played alongside Messi in the Argentina national team, believes the Barcelona superstar will end his playing days where he began them - back home in Argentina with boyhood club Newell's Old Boys.
No other shirt
Heinze, who also retired in a similar fashion at Newell's having started playing football there, said: "Messi will retire at Newell's, there's no need to convince him of anything,
"I don't see him wearing any other shirt in Argentina than that of Newell's and he will retire at Newell's.
"I had played very few games in Argentina and never thought of going back there to finish my career but the last two years I spent with Newell's Old Boys were the best of my life."
