Friendlies: City destroy Milan, Markovic impresses for Pool
Manchester City ran riot in a 5-1 win over AC Milan during their International Champions Cup Pool B match in Pittsburgh.
Stevan Jovetic started a 15-minute goal frenzy for the Citizens with a clinically-taken 12th-minute goal to open the scoring.
Winger Scott Sinclair then doubled the advantage a minute later when he cut in from the left to control and smash home Gael Clichy's cross.
Jesus Navas made it 3-0 in the 23rd minute when his acrobatic volley deflected off Andrea Poli and into the net with Milan goalkeeper Michael Agazzi wrong-footed.
Nigerian youngster Kelechi Iheanacho, who is on trial with Manuel Pellegrini's side, then added a fourth in the 26th minute.
While Milan reduced the deficit in the 42nd minute when Sulley Muntari tapped in an Alex flick-on from a corner, Jovetic netted his second in the 58th minute following some lovely footwork to cap the scoring at Heinz Field.
In the other Pool B match, an early goal from Raheem Sterling was enough for Liverpool to seal a 1-0 win over Olympiakos in Chicago.
The England youngster reacted quickest with an improvised shot in the fifth minute to beat goalkeeper Balazs Megyeri after Daniel Sturridge's attempt from distance deflected off former Barcelona defender Eric Abidal.
With the Greek side offering little threat, Brendan Rodgers can take heart that new signing Lazar Markovic enjoyed an impressive debut at Soldier Field as he looks for a solution to life after Luis Suarez.
Although Markovic might want to forget this little incident (as impressive it might seem to some):
Liverpool will next meet City on Friday morning (Singapore time) at the Yankee Stadium in New York.
