Ghana in disarray as Boateng and Muntari suspended
Ghana have been plunged into chaos ahead of their do-or-die World Cup Group G game against Portugal.
Their two star players Sulley Muntari and Kevin-Prince Boateng have been suspended indefinitely.
According to the back-to-back statements released on the Ghana Football Association's website, Muntari was banned for an "unprovoked physical attack" on Ghana FA executive committee member Moses Armah, while Boateng was being sent home for "vulgar verbal insults targeted at coach Kwesi Appiah" during a training session.
Boateng showed "no remorse for his actions", the statements said.
The statements also indicated that both players' World Cup accreditation had been withdrawn.
It has been a difficult tournament for the Black Stars, who must beat Portugal to stand any chance of advancing to the Round of 16.
Earlier, the Ghana FA airlfted more than US$3 million (S$3.75 million) in cash to Brazil to pay their players' appearance fees.
According to the Guardian, players had boycotted training on Tuesday after they didn't get paid at the start of the week.
