Lesson learnt: Keep things simple
The key word in free-kick routines these days is inventiveness.
We have been impressed by some, such as the one by a group of Japanese high school kids whom we recently highlighted.
But here’s the warning.
When it goes awry, then it looks absolutely horrendous, not to mention embarrassing.
Dutch second-tier side NAC Breda lost 2-1 to Jong Ajax on Tuesday (Jan 26), but the source of Breda’s real misery was their failed free-kick routine, which saw their own player accidentally foil a teammate’s attempt on goal.
We leave you to enjoy it.
