New twist in Vidal transfer saga
Will he or won't he - that's the question on the mind of Manchester United fans when it comes to the transfer of Juventus man Arturo Vidal.
The all-action midfielder is seen as the missing piece to United's long-standing jigsaw puzzle in midfield, which could still use strengthening despite the signing of Ander Herrera from Athletic Bilbao.
However, it seems like the Chilean has played down a move to join Louis van Gaal's Old Trafford revolution.
On his return to Turin after starring for his country at the World Cup, Vidal was quoted by Gazzetta Dello Sport as saying: "Can I say that I stay at Juve? I do not know. I will talk with (new Juve coach Massimiliano) Allegri then we'll see. I'm happy here.
"I have not yet spoken with Allegri and even with my friends, I do not go to Manchester."
While most news outlets have been quick to suggest the latest development as a snub to United, it seems like Vidal is still keeping his options open as to where his future lies.
Previously, the 27-year-old declared in Chilean newspaper La Tercera that he was "very relaxed" about his situation at Juventus while admitting that "all of us would like be in one of the best teams in the world".
Despite reports that a deal with United had been nearing completion, Juventus poured cold water on the speculation and stated that the player was not for sale.
To compound the situation, United's English Premier League rivals Liverpool, who are reportedly keen on Vidal as a replacement for Steven Gerrard, as well as Real Madrid have been reportedly sniffing around Vidal.
Until something more concrete happens, it looks like Vidal's name isn't going to disappear from the transfer gossip pages anytime soon.
