Rooney equals record, then breaks fashion’s cardinal rule

Wayne Rooney’s penalty goal in England’s 6-0 victory over San Marino on Saturday saw him equal Sir Bobby Charlton’s England record of 49 goals, as his team booked a place in Euro 2016.
It should be a moment to treasure for the Manchester United striker, but he could be remembered for the wrong reason now — for showing up on a TV show wearing socks and sandals.

Or maybe he was just taking a cue from pop star Rihanna, who was photographed in March sporting the same hideous combination during an outing in New York City.
