A Singapore reunion for former Villa mates
James and Hendrie come together for National Stadium match on Nov 12
They were part of the Aston Villa team that lost 1-0 to Chelsea in the 2000 FA Cup final at the old Wembley Stadium.
David James and Lee Hendrie played a season together after that, before goalkeeper James moved to West Ham United, while Hendrie stayed at Villa Park until 2007.
Fifteen years on, the two former teammates will be reunited in Singapore for the Battle of Europe 2016 presented by Masters Football Asia competition later this year.
James, 46, and Hendrie, 39, are the latest additions to the England Masters team, which will take on Germany Masters at the National Stadium on Nov 12.
Former England international James said: "Matches against Germany are always memorable and the Battle of Europe is no different.
"I've always enjoyed my trips to Singapore and it will be extra special for me this November, and I am looking forward to playing alongside my teammates in a couple of months."
Other than James and Hendrie, the other players confirmed for the England Masters squad are Des Walker, Steve McManaman, Emile Heskey, Teddy Sheringham and Darren Anderton.
The Germany Masters squad will also be boosted by 1990 World Cup winner Karl-Heinz Riedle and Borussia Dortmund legend Christoph Metzelder.
Englishman James will also have an intriguing reunion with former Liverpool teammate Riedle - the German played for the Reds from 1997 to 1999 - and will be trying to stop the German from scoring in November.
"I have such great memories of playing for Germany, so I'm really looking forward to the match. Playing against England is never easy but we're always up for the challenge," said Riedle, 50, who also won Euro'92 with Germany.
The other players in the Germany Masters are Jens Nowotny, Guido Buchwald, Mario Basler, Lothar Matthaeus and Dietmar Hamann.
Masters Football Asia chief executive officer Steve Black said: "It is always our aim to bring together some of the best names in international football for our fans, who have been so supportive over the years.
"The players are all eager to return to the pitch and are itching for a good game."
