WATCH: The moment David Beckham was subbed for son Brooklyn at Old Trafford

David Beckham returned to his old stomping ground at Old Trafford on Saturday for Unicef's Match for Children.

While the ex-Manchester United star and his Great Britain and Ireland team put on quite a show to beat the Rest of the World 3-1, some of the loudest cheers of the night were reserved for the 40-year-old and his son Brooklyn.

The two Beckhams exchanged places in the 75th minute, with the 16-year-old coming on to replace his father.

Understandably, the Old Trafford faithful gave their former favourite and his progeny a rousing burst of applause as the switch took place.

The feel-good factor was amplified minutes later after Beckham returned to play alongside his son as a substitute for Sol Campbell.

The father-and-son duo also came close to causing pandemonium when Beckham rose to meet Brooklyn's corner kick, only to head the ball over.

Of course, this wasn't Brooklyn's first appearance on the Old Trafford turf – he was led onto the pitch by his father when United won the title in 2001.

Reminiscing about that moment to after the match, Beckham said: "One of my lasting memories of playing here was winning the Premier League and walking around with Brooklyn when he was 18 months old. I was very proud. He's 16 now and a bit difficult to get on my shoulders!"
