Brandon does Singapore proud at SICC junior championship

Singapore's Brandon Han and Pauline Del Rosario from the Philippines took the top honours on the final day of the SICC/DBS Junior Invitational Golf Championship (JIGC) yesterday.

Brandon won the boys' Overall Best Gross title with a total of 217 (72-72-73) while Ryan Wong finished second on countback with his tally of 222 (78-74-70).

"I have been training very hard and this victory is the icing on the cake. My advice to my peers is never give up when the going gets tough," said Brandon, who was presented with his trophy by SICC captain Andrew Lim yesterday.

In the girls' Overall Best Gross category, Pauline showed her class when she clinched the title with a superb 208 (65-72-71) total. Ribka Vania of Indonesia finished as runner-up on 221 (71-73-77).

"This is one of my last junior tournaments and I am very happy that I won," said Pauline.

A total of 125 junior golfers from 15 countries took part in the tournament at the SICC's Island Course.
