SSA makes SEA Games appeal for 11 events
The Singapore Swimming Association (SSA) yesterday appealed to the Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC) for the inclusion of 11 aquatic events for next year's South-east Asia (SEA) Games in Malaysia.
The events are the 50m men's and women's freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly, the synchronised swimming team's technical and free combination routines, and women's water polo.
It was reported last month that a number of aquatic and track and field events, together with sports that are among Singapore's strong suits - such as canoeing, floorball and fencing - were provisionally omitted from next year's programme.
The SNOC had previously appealed at last month's SEA Games Federation Council meeting in Kuala Lumpur for the 50m swimming events and women's water polo to be included, with the final list of sports and events expected to be confirmed when the Council meets in July.
