Celtic may make shock loan move for Steven Gerrard
Steven Gerrard has vowed never to play for another English Premier League club.
And that has alerted Scottish outfit Celtic.
Reports suggest that they are set to tempt the Liverpool skipper, who is joining the LA Galaxy after the end of this season, with a loan move in the next winter window.
Major League Soccer (MLS) runs from March to December.
Celtic are said to be hoping to convince Gerrard to play for them during those three months in early 2016, when he will have no MLS commitments.
But Celtic may have to fight it out with Liverpool for the 34-year-old’s short-term services.
The Reds’ chief executive officer Ian Ayre recently said that Liverpool are open to the idea of their legend returning on loan.
Ayre told radio station City Talk: “It’s conceivable. It happens a lot in MLS and it’s something we talked to Steven and his representatives about.
“You can’t have someone who has so much of the club’s DNA in them and just expect that it will go away.”
