Lopez hails team unity

Singapore's swimmers are close to making history in the pool at this South-east Asia (SEA) Games.

They have already won 15 golds from four days of competition, and are homing in on the historic best of 21 victories, set at home in 1973, with two days left.

Singapore Swimming Association president Lee Kok Choy said: "We could get close; every race is an independent race but, right now, we are on a roll and the results are coming up quite well.

"We are delighted and I am sure we will do well."

National swim coach Sergio Lopez said he was not focusing on the number of medals won, but is impressed with the team unity, as well as the progress of youngsters such as Dylan Koo, who has improved about 1.5 seconds in his 100m fly since January.

He said: "We are just coming here trying to be the best team... whether we win 21 golds, or 19 or 25, we're showing people that we are here for the future."
