M'sian singer DJ Dave releases song for families of MH17 and MH370 victims
It was his overwhelming sympathy for the families of victims who were killed in the downed MH17 flight that inspired him to write a song.
With a tune and five words playing repeatedly in his mind - Tuhan (God), redha (relief), pasrah (acceptance), keluarga (family) and harapan (hope) - veteran Malaysian artist DJ Dave decided to write the song on the same night of the tragedy, The Star reported.
According to DJ Dave, 66, his new single, titled Di Pertemuan Abadi (Malay for Meeting In Eternity), is dedicated to the families of victims of MH17 as well as MH370.
DJ Dave, whose real name is Irwan Abdullah, is also the same man behind evergreen Malay pop hits such as Ingin Bersua (Want To Meet), Maafkanlah (Forgive) and Ku Tak Ingin Menangis (I Don’t Want To Cry).
Adding a touch of reality to the nature of both tragedies, the singer incorporated into the ballad the sound of an airplane engine in its introduction, the publication added.

"I was in a jungle in Sabah when I heard about the incident. I was sad and emotional.
"When I returned to my hotel, there was a band playing there and I asked them if there was any studio I could rent. They told me that the studio was only available from 1am onwards. I went anyway at 2.30am," he said at the launch of the single in KL on Wednesday (Sept 24).
Mr Ahmad Shabery Cheek, the Communications and Multimedia Minister, launched the single at the ministry’s office in Kuala Lumpur.
Mr Abdullah has announced that all the money from the sale of the single and caller ringtones of the song would go to the families of the victims.
"It will give a chance for Malaysians to contribute to the families of the MH370 and MH17 victims and offer some comfort to them," he said.
