All Saints makes a comeback with new single One Strike
British-Canadian quartet All Saints releases their first single in a decade
ALL SAINTS - ONE STRIKE
British-Canadian quartet All Saints, one of the most popular girl groups of the 1990s, made synth-infused ambient pop that, in retrospect, was way ahead of its time.
One Strike, their first single in a decade, sounds strikingly similar to their old hits Pure Shores and Black Coffee. Laid-back, dreamlike and understated, the lyrics are reportedly inspired by member Nicole Appleton's divorce from Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher.
FKA TWIGS - GOOD TO LOVE
Many know British singer FKA Twigs as the fiancee of Twilight star Robert Pattinson, or as a fashion muse (thanks to her eclectic style).
We say it's time to recognise her as a bona fide artist who makes gorgeous, experimental pop music.
Good To Love is a slow-burning, spellbinding R&B number that will enrapture listeners with its myriad electronica sounds.
M.I.A. - BOOM ADD
Looks like the British electro hip-hop star and social activist M.I.A. is one to hold grudges.
Four years after her infamous 2012 Super Bowl scandal - she flipped the bird during a halftime show performance with Madonna and the National Football League threatened to sue her - she cheekily references the incident in this new single.
The song is super catchy and, as usual, M.I.A. delves into her pet topic: the frustration of immigrants ("Billions of brown people staying unlisted").
