Four hurt in Woodlands crash
An accident at Woodlands yesterday left a white minibus upside down, and a taxi without its front bumper.
The incident took place at the junction of Woodlands Street 83, Woodlands Drive 40 and Woodlands Avenue 4 at 12.20pm.
The drivers of both vehicles and the passengers of the SMRT taxi suffered minor injuries.
Off-duty security guard Mohd Yazid Ali, 29, was exercising at a nearby fitness corner when he heard a crash, and a woman screaming.
He said: "I was shocked. I moved closer to where the accident was and saw a crowd surrounding the two vehicles. Some people were calling the police and an ambulance."
Mr Yazid saidthe ambulance arrived a short while later and took the injured to hospital.
"One of them was an older Chinese man. I think he's the taxi driver as he was sitting on the ground near the taxi," he said.
Another passer-by, who wanted to be known only as Mr Teo, said the taxi was travelling along Avenue 4, and the minibus was going towards Street 83 from Woodlands Drive 40.
"When I got there, both the drivers were conscious and were talking to the traffic police," he said.
CRYING
Mr Teo said there was also a woman sitting by the road near the taxi and crying.
"As for the minibus, there wasn't anyone else there. The driver was alone," he said.
When The New Paper arrived, the taxi was being towed. The front bumper of the taxi was on top of the overturned minibus.
According to a police spokesman, both drivers as well as two passengers who were in the taxi, were taken conscious to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) confirmed that all four victims suffered minor injuries.
"The passengers were a woman who had bruises and a small child who complained of chest pains. Both drivers suffered minor cuts," said a spokesman.
