Some finish with multiple awards
Mrs Singapore and Classic Mrs Singapore 2014
There were 26 contestants for the beauty contest and more than 30 awards.
So in theory, everybody should have been able to go home with something.
But that was not the case at the Mrs Singapore and Classic Mrs Singapore 2014.
Some women finished with multiple awards.
Madam Sumini Sakri, 52, who took the title of Classic Mrs Singapore Globe 2014 on Saturday night, was also Mrs Fresver Beauty and Mrs Superwoman Glamorous 2014.
She was also named Most Fantabulous Super Mom by her daughter, Miss Natasha San, 19, who cheered herself hoarse while waving her handmade posters every time her mother took the stage.
She was one of the loudest in the 450-strong crowd of supporters.
It was not just her mother sweeping the titles. Her father emerged a winner too.
He was among several husbands who were named Most Supportive Husband for their homemade dedication videos.
Madam Sakri's husband of 25 years, Mr Frederick San, 53, was one of the loudest at the ballroom at Orchid Country Club.
Madam Sakri finished the night with three tiaras.
Said Mr San: "I felt that she would definitely get something, but three was a surprise."
Madam Sakri, an administrator, said: "I was totally taken aback. I thought they would choose someone from the younger age group."
She added: "At my age and I can still win something, it fulfils my wish of telling women in this age group not to give up, we can still achieve our goals."
DIFFERENT CATEGORIES
In all, there were 19 finalists for Mrs Singapore and seven finalists for Classic Mrs Singapore.
The contest was split into two categories: Mrs Singapore for married women aged 25 to 49, and Classic Mrs Singapore for those aged 50 and above.
The finalists were introduced after an opening dance that was followed by an evening gown segment and a question-and-answer round.
Their husbands were also involved in the evening gown segment and they walked the red carpet proudly with their wives.
Madam Fion Xiao Yao, 39, was named Mrs Singapore Planet 2014.
She said she had been crying a lot before the finals because of her self-pride.
"Some of the other contestants are prettier and were strong competitors. But I know I put in a lot of effort and practised a lot," she said.
She, too, won other titles - Mrs Most Photogenic and Mrs Zell-V.
The Chinese PR said her eight-year-old daughter Chan Si Ling was confident she would do well.
"One thousand per cent Mummy will win," she told a family friend at the event.
Madam Xiao said: "Even when other supporters were tired, I saw from the stage that Si Ling never put down the poster."
Madam Xiao dedicated her win to her mother as a Mother's Day gift.
Her parents had flown here from China to support their daughter in the two months of preparation.
"This is the best present I could give to my mother," said Madam Xiao, who gave her bouquet of flowers to her mother.
Madam Sakri's mother-in-law was also there with two friends, making up her 30-strong contingent of supporters.
Said Madam Sakri: "Even though they are in their 80s, they still stayed up for the results. It was so sweet."
At my age and I can still win something, it fulfils my wish of telling women in this age group not to give up, we can still achieve our goals.
