Search for missing woman at MacRitchie Reservoir Park
Her belongings found at MacRitchie Reservoir Park
A search for a missing woman was conducted yesterday afternoon at MacRitchie Reservoir Park.
The hunt, which began at about 1pm, was called off at about 6.30pm.
Police confirmed that a missing person's report was lodged.
The New Paper understands that the report, which was made on Monday, was for a 22-year-old woman.
It is believed that the search operation began after her belongings were found at the park.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said that it was alerted of the incident at about 12.50pm. They sent one fire engine, one red rhino, two fire bikes, one ambulance and one heavy rescue tender to the scene.
Upon arrival, some SCDF officers combed the parameters of the reservoir while two fire fighters and PUB officers conducted a surface search on the water using a PUB boat.
It is believed that MacRitchie Reservoir was one of the woman's last known locations.
With no luck at finding the missing woman, SCDF said its Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team (Dart) divers were activated for a dive search.
When TNP arrived at the scene at 3pm yesterday, officers from both the police and SCDF were seen at the pier by the entrance of the MacRitchie Fitness Park.
A group of four women and two men were also standing at the pier where the SCDF vehicles were parked.
ANXIOUS
When approached, they declined to say if they were related to the missing woman.
The group was later joined by three other young women.
One of the men appeared anxious as he cupped his head in his hands.
He gripped a face towel, looking at the reservoir each time the divers left the pier on a boat for another round of search.
At about 6pm, SCDF confirmed that the divers were already on their "third point dive". They explained that it was the third area of the reservoir they had progressed to search.
At sundown, the SCDF officers concluded the search for the day. Police and the group of people who stood by the pier also left.
Police confirmed that the search operation and investigations of the missing woman are ongoing.
