Alleged rapist claimed that sex was consensual
Alleged rapist, Haliffie Mamat, 24, told the police in a statement on May 11, 2013 that he had consensual sex with the then-34-year-woman who later accused him of rape.
Investigation officer, Inspector Thermizi Tho, who took the stand on Thursday (May 21), read it out in court on the fourth day of his trial.
In his statement, Haliffie said that after having sex with the woman in his car, he pushed her out of the vehicle and drove off with her handbag.
The storeman is on trial for allegedly raping the woman on a bridge along Kallang Bahru Road between 6.30am and 6.45am on May 4, 2013.
He is also accused of robbing her of her Louis Vuitton handbag, two mobile phones, some $300 in cash and a bottle of Bvlgari perfume.
