Part-time Undergraduate Programmes at SUSS
Pursuing a degree at your own pace is always desirable.
Flexibility is one of the many key features offered by the School of Humanities and Behavioural Sciences at the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS), which offers a diverse range of part-time undergraduate programmes.
The school offers the SUSS Communication Programme, one of the largest communication programmes in Singapore.
It prepares students for fields such as strategic communication, public relations, social media and media production.
According to Head of Programme (Communication), Dr Brian Lee, 48, the SUSS communication courses are blended e-courses where students can study at their own pace anytime and anywhere.
Its online sessions include discussion boards, games and online activities to aid student learning and develop practical and professional skills.
There are also media talks and workshops with industrial experts and professionals.
Dr Lee said: "As working adults pursuing their careers in the day and degree in the evening, SUSS communication students will be able to put into practice the knowledge and skills gained immediately."
Mr Foo Cheong Ho, 46, a student in the SUSS Communication Programme, said: "The lecturers enrich my mind. I can now better appreciate communication in my everyday life."
Similarly, the SUSS Psychology Programme prioritises real-world application through seminar-style classes and interactive classrooms.
According to Dr Emily Ortega, Head of Programme (Psychology), students appreciate the diverse perspectives in group discussions.
The programme uses classroom recordings, discussion boards, quizzes and e-textbooks to cater to the busy lifestyles of students.
The programme also offers industrial tie-ups and collaborations to maximise students' learning in real-world contexts.
Lecturers - current or former industry practitioners - help bring theories to life by sharing work experience with students.
Dr Ortega said: "The programme's biggest strengths are its flexibility and applicability. We accommodate part-time students and structure our classes in seminar styles or e-learning."
Mr Jereminder Singh, 26, a student in the SUSS Psychology Programme, said: "I enjoy the flipped classroom approach, when the students have to solve problems posited by the lecturers. Lessons are more fun than the usual lecture formats."
