Just in case you've been hiding under a rock, Uruguay's Luis Suarez decided that he had to bite into Italian defender's Giorgio Chiellini shoulder during this morning's Group D match.
FIFA has since announced that it has started a disciplinary probe against Suarez and he runs the risk of being banned from the rest of the World Cup.
The Internet however, in all its wisdom, has decreed that the nasty incident is worthy of a meme.

Even former American international and current ESPN analyst Alexi Lalas got into the act.

Uh, we did one, too.
In any case, at least Suarez's decision to do an impromptu reenactment of the movie Hannibal did benefit some people.
Business Insider is reporting that 167 really smart people bet that Suarez would bite someone during this World Cup - not exactly a suprises as he has been suspended for doing so on two previous occasions.
One lucky punter, Thomas Syverson from Norway, was not turned off by the fact that online betting house Betsson offered 175-1 odds that Suarez would sink his teeth into an opponent and decided that he simply must bite into a chance of winning some money.
Well, fortune favours the brave and he walks away with US$916 (S$1146) from a US$5.25 bet.
Not bad.
