Teens use ice bucket challenge to dump human waste on autistic boy

This article is more than 12 months old

It was a disgusting ice bucket challenge.

A 14-year-old autistic boy in Cleveland, Ohio, was covered in urine, faeces and spit after he thought he was taking part in the challenge.

The police have identified most of the culprits who dumped the waste on him, the boy’s family told NBC News.

Lawyer Dean Valore said most of the kids who were behind it are known, but the police are still trying to determine who actually filled the container.

The boy’s family said they were “overwhelmed” by the outpouring of support from celebrities and regular folks alike.

Over the weekend, comedian Drew Carey offered US$10,000 (S$12,630) to help find the responsible culprits behind the prank.

Jenny McCarthy and Donnie Wahlberg joined Carey on Sunday in offering US$10,000 each over Twitter to find the culprits.

The 15-year-old boy’s mother told CNN affiliate WJW-TV in Cleveland that the video was discovered on her son’s mobile phone.

“He was embarrassed because he did not know what the contents were until afterwards, and then he didn’t want anybody to know,” the mother told the station.

“They used his phone to tape it, and they put it up on Instagram.”
