Man loses at mahjong, kills winner with brick
A gambler in China lost about 2,000 yuan (S$430) while playing mahjong, reported Shanghai Daily.
Upset, he tailed the man who had won money from him and asked him for a lift on his scooter.
The winner, known only as Mr Wu, agreed to his request.
Prosecutors in Songjiang District said on Monday (May 3) that midway through the journey, the gambler, known only as Shen, started to attack Mr Wu.
He allegedly struck the victim's head with a brick multiple times, reported Shanghaiist. He then took back the 2,000 yuan he had lost to him as well as a gold chain from Mr Wu, who was unconscious by then.
Shen, who is unemployed, allegedly dumped Mr Wu's body, mobile phone and scooter in a river.
The crime happened in September last year.
Prosecutors said Shen initially denied being involved, but later confessed to the crime after police found blood on the brick and his bloodstained clothes in a garage, reported Shanghai Daily.
Shen was charged with robbery and murder.
