Plane makes emergency landing in US
A Southwest Airlines flight from New Orleans, Louisiana, to Orlando, Florida, in the US was forced to make an emergency landing after one of its two engines failed on Saturday.
The Boeing 737-700 had to divert to Pensacola International Airport in northern Florida at 9.40am, according to a statement from the airline, reported the Wall Street Journal.
Pictures posted online by passengers appear to show that part of the engine had blown apart.
One passenger told CNN affiliate KOCO that the engine was right outside her window.
"It was just a big explosion," she told the Oklahoma City station.
"I saw parts flapping in the wind."
Breathing masks were deployed as the plane descended. None of the 99 passengers or five crew members on board was injured.
A spokesman for the airline said there was no explosion, BBC reported.
The plane's fuselage, front edge of the wing, horizontal tail stabiliser and winglet were also damaged.
