Nominated 14 times with no win, will this be Chen Shucheng's year?
When the nomination list was recently released for the Star Awards 2015 Top 20 Most Popular Artists, one name that stood out was veteran actor Chen Shucheng.
The household name is being nominated for the 15th time.
Chen, 65, has not scored the coveted award for the Top 10 Most Popular Male Artists the last 14 times that he was nominated.
Will this be his year?
Artists can win this award up to a maximum of 10 times, after which they are given the All-Time Favourite Artist Award.
Chen joined MediaCorp, then known as Radio Television Singapore (RTS), as an actor in 1971.
Since then, he has played a multitude of roles, including that of a playboy, strict father, moody grandfather in hit Channel 8 dramas such as The Awakening (1984), The Unbeatables (1993), Golden Pillow (1995) and Portrait Of Home (2005).
Having also been nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the Star Awards many times previously without a win, the entire arena gave him a standing ovation when he finally won the award in 2012 for playing actress Jesseca Liu's father in medical drama The Oath (2011).

In Star Awards history, only three actors have won the award 10 years in a row since their first year of nomination.
