Baltimore Riot: In pictures
On April 19, a 25-year-old African-American man died in the US city of Baltimore after spending a week in a coma.
Freddie Gray died in hospital from spinal injuries a week after having been taken into police custody.
The justice department is investigating how his spinal injuries were sustained and six officers involved in the case have been suspended.
His funeral was held on Monday afternoon (April 27).
Following the funeral, Baltimore burned.
Rioters took to the streets in their hundreds protesting Gray's death. Buildings burned. Stores were looted.
A total of 27 people were arrested. At least 15 police officers were injured.
A state of emergency has been declared and a week-long curfew announced.
The images from Monday's night of violence are as shocking as they are stunning.
