Singapore Idol Sezairi ties the knot with long-time girlfriend in intimate ceremony
Following in the footsteps of fellow Singapore Idol winners Taufik Batisah and Hady Mirza, Singapore Idol 3 winner Sezairi bid goodbye to bachelorhood in a cosy and intimate affair yesterday afternoon.
The local singer-songwriter tied the knot with his Chinese-Malay fiancee, Syaza Qistina Tan,at a solemnisation ceremony at Timbre Music Academy hall at Old Parliament Lane yesterday.
The groom, whose full name is Sezairi Sezali, was especially emotional during his speech before some 120 guests.
They included close family and friends, theatre veteran Ivan Heng, radio DJ-singer Tabitha Nauser, who was a bridesmaid, and home-grown rappers TheLionCityBoy and Sheikh Haikel.
Wiping his tears, Sezairi, 28, thanked his parents: "I can only hope that I will be as loving a husband as my father is to my mother. Everything I learnt about love I learnt from watching my parents. They love unconditionally through thick and thin."
Turning to his teary bride, his voice broke as he said: "To my loving wife... Some people ask me what I would attribute my success to. Even before I was famous and still a struggling musician, Syaza was the one who told me 'There's nothing that I believe you can't do'."
Ms Syaza, 25, was equally teary-eyed during her speech.
"It's been an amazing seven years, not because every moment has been great but because some moments have been extremely tough but we've come out stronger every single time and that's how I know we're going to make it," said the events executive.
The pair wore matching white outfits - Sezairi in a traditional baju Melayu and Ms Syaza in a lace dress with a veil - sponsored by local celebrity stylist and make-up artist Fatimah Mohsin.
The unique music venue was decked in white flowers, and musical instruments were left on the stage as a tribute to Sezairi's love for music.
Sezairi wiping the tears from his bride's smiling face.Sezairi, who took home the award for Best Collaboration (Song) at last year's Anugerah Planet Muzik, had proposed to Ms Syaza on bended knee on the set of his debut movie 1965 in December 2014.
Following their solemnisation, the newlyweds will plan a wedding ceremony at a later date.
Honeymoon plans and children are things they have yet to consider.
INSPIRATION
Sezairi, who is set to release a self-titled album inspired by his relationship with his wife, said: "We're back to work after this. Next month I will be playing shows overseas and then releasing the album."
As for children?
"Not yet, not anytime soon," said the groom with a smile.
The couple has already moved into their new Pasir Ris five-room flat with Ms Syaza's mother and 13-year-old sister, Hannah.

I feel sad because there will only be three of us now - my husband and I and our younger son. I will miss him."
His mother-in-law, Madam Norintan Shariff, 53, who is in the education industry, said she could not be happier to welcome her first son-in-law into the family.
"I'm very proud of him... He has always been down-to-earth and respectful. As far as I'm concerned he has taken good care of my daughter and he will continue to do so.
"Or else he's messing with me."
