TNP New Face 2016: Zahra Khanum
Zahra Khanum, 21
Sociology student at National University of Singapore
Zahra wants to visit Kashmir to find out more about her bloodline.
She said: "My great grandfather is Kashmiri and it would be a privilege to travel there and learn more about my roots. I have always heard about Kashmir being a beautiful place, a paradise on earth."
What advice would you give your younger self?
To not be afraid of what people say and just go for it. Love the people around you and keep surprising them. Don't stop believing in yourself. You're not just a pretty face - you also have a forgiving heart. You look past flaws and that is your best feature. Don't stop pushing yourself and stay humble.
Describe yourself in three words.
Radiant, nurturing and high-achieving.
State one interesting fact about yourself.
Singing is my favourite thing to do. I don't think I'm very good but if I can't do anything else in life, I would probably sing. I definitely want to build more confidence in my singing and hopefully be ready to sing in front of an audience one day.
What is your worst habit?
It would have to be saying sorry. I say sorry even if someone else bumps into me.
What is your biggest obsession?
Definitely make-up and dressing up, which also helps me de-stress. I have always loved wearing make-up since I was 13. I have always been inspired by my mother and one of my cousins, who is amazing at applying make-up.
I always get so excited when it's time to get my make-up done and dress up for any event.
