Here's your chance to train as an Avenger
Fancy going up against Captain America? How about trying the Iron Man Simulators in which you can fight as Iron Man?
Here is your big chance to go up against the Marvel Superheroes.
The Marvel’s Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N (Scientific Training and Tactical Intelligence Operative Network) exhibition opens here on Oct 29(see below).
It is its first foray into South-east Asia. The Singapore edition is touted as the biggest one to date.
Another first for the exhibition — the costume and helmet of Loki will be on show.
Produced by Victory Hill exhibitions, the exhibition started in New York in 2014 and has travelled to Seoul and Paris. It has a permanent home in Las Vegas.
The Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N is a narrative driven exhibition which is set within the high-tech environment of the Avengers training facility.
It features original sets, props, costumes, interactive stations and special effects, set to draw visitors into the world of The Avengers.
Visitors join as recruits and will get to experience the Avengers’ universe by carrying out detailed examination of the history, genetics, technology and personal profiles of the various Avengers team members.
After completing the various interactive segments and getting assessed, the probationary recruits will graduate to an active S.T.A.T.I.O.N agent.
Chief creative officer Nicholas Cooper told The New Paper: “We wanted to create something educational and give people missions to do, not to just walk through and look.
“The exhibition involves plenty of science as well, hence it is fitting that it is in a science centre.”
Some of the activities visitors can try include the endurance test, in which they pit themselves against Captain America at the High Performance Test Lab, riding a stationary bicycle.
They can also try the Iron Man Simulators, in which they get to fight as Iron Man.
Said Mr Cooper: “In some exhibits, we had the high performance test lab and in others we didn’t.
"In some exhibits we had the Iron Man experience, the others didn’t. So what we have done here is to bring all these things into one big show.
"Sometimes we are restricted by space. For example in New York, we had only about 900 sq m. But here we have almost 2,000 sq m, so we brought everything we have got to make it the biggest and best show."
In a high performance lab, visitors can test their physical and mental skills against the superheroes."
Visitors can also download the free Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N Mobile Training Device app, an audio guide that includes photo filters of the characters for selfies.
Said Mr Peter Lin, 34, a writer: “I am a huge Marvel fan and really looking forward to being immersed in the whole experience of being a SHIELD agent. I am going buy tickets very soon.”
Since sales opened in June, more than 7,000 tickets have been sold.
Said Mr Cooper: “It is going to be an innovative, immersive, and fun experience for the whole family. It is very educational, it is very fun, there is a lot of things to see, do, touch and play with.
"So experience it for yourself, live in the movies for about a hour. This is the place for you.”
