The five best goals so far from the Women's World Cup

With the SEA Games 2015 taking up a lot of the attention these past two weeks, many have forgotten that the Women's World Cup is also currently taking place in Canada.

The World Cup, which began on June 6, is now in its knockout stages with China and Germany having eased through to the quarter finals.

Predictably, the top nations have all been doing well, and this includes Germany, which extended a harsh welcome to its competitors, Ivory Coast, with a 10-0 scoreline.

With the final taking place on July 5, let's have a look at some of the best goals so far in the tournament.

1. Norway vs  Germany

While Germany were clearly the dominant player, Norway weren't quick to hang up their boots just yet.

In the second half of the match, Norwegian Maren Mjelde equalised with a beautiful free kick from the penalty area, sending the ball curling over the wall of German players and smacking straight into the top corner of the net.

2. France vs England

In a tight match, both teams struggled to score but France's Eugenie Le Sommer was the one bright spot in the stadium. In the first half, Le Sommer scored without hesitation straight into the net with unstoppable force.

3. Mexico vs Colombia

Throughout the game, Mexico proved to be dangerous with their set pieces. But a corner from Veronica Perez helped them claim the nation's lead in the first half.

She convincingly curled the ball into the net - with Colombia's goalkeeper Stefany Castano unsuccessfully trying to palm it away.

4. France vs Mexico

France completely trounced Mexico 5-0 in the match, which led to Mexico's exit from the World Cup.

With just ten minutes to go, France were not going to be complacent with their victory. Amandine Henry scored a sensational long-range strike that stunned the goalkeeper. This is definitely a strong contender for the goal of the tournament.

5. Colombia vs England

Colombia's Lady Andrade is known to shoot her mouth off the pitch. She vowed just yesterday (June 20) that she would knock tournament favourites US out of the competition in their knockout game on Monday.

Thankfully, she can walk the talk too. In this game with England, who won the match 2-1, Andrade managed to send the ball flying over everyone's head before it hit the back of the net.
