Gary Neville still waiting for a win as Valencia's manager

Gary Neville's is still looking for his first win as Valencia's manager.

Valencia's lost 0-2 to Real Sociedad on Sunday (Jan 10).

The latest results mean that since being appointed last month to replace the sacked Nuno Espirito Santo, Neville has presided over three draws and two defeats in La Liga.

Under Neville, Valencia was also eliminated from the Champions League thanks to a 0-2 loss to Olympique Lyonnais in December last year.

The club is mired in mid table in La Liga at the halfway stage of the campaign, well short of the European qualification places that the ambitious Peter Lim-owned club expects to be challenging for.

Although he has impressed reporters with his clear and concise post match interviews, his club's on field performance has yet to follow suit.

A double by Sociedad's Jonathas de Jesus secured victory while Valencia’s best moment came in the first half when Rodrigo Moreno's effort hit the crossbar.

After the match, Neville pleaded for the fans of Valencia to be patient.

Neville told a news conference he wanted the Valencia supporters to understand what the team was trying to do and continue supporting the players.

“Everyone in the dressing room is disappointed, myself more than anyone, but tomorrow, everything starts again,” he said.

Despite the results, Neville ruled out bringing in reinforcements during the January transfer window.

“It’s not that the club doesn’t want to spend money. There have been some important signings and my job is to get the players to perform," he said.

"I believe I have some excellent players and I assume responsibility for the defeat," he added.

Valencia's next game is against Granada on Jan 15 in the Copa Del Rey.
