Ronaldo kicks out at opponent again
Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo found himself in the news for the wrong reason in successive weeks after lashing out at an opponent during his team’s 1-1 draw with Real Betis on Sunday (Jan 24).
He escaped punishment by the match official, but not criticism by his victim Francisco Molinero.
Said Molinero: "It was an ugly gesture by Ronaldo to kick out with his leg.
"If the referee sees it, it’s an act of aggression.
"I also give out fouls, I am not a saint, but the ball has to be there. Without the ball it is undue."
A week earlier, Ronaldo had also kicked Sporting Gijon’s Nacho Cases in his side’s 5-1 win at the Bernabeu.
After that incident, Ronaldo, whose form has taken a significant dip this term, said: "My kick out? It was instinctive.
"They could have shown me a yellow card.
"If I kicked him on purpose he would not have got up. I shouldn’t have done it."
