Thais take 2-0 lead over Malaysia
Malaysia found it tough against the Thais, who put up more of a challenge than Vietnam, who caved in to the Tigers' roar in last Thursday's semi-final.
This time around, the War Elephants trampled all over the Tigers.
Thailand's first-half dominance escalated as the second period wore on, as the home side, orchestrated by the brilliant Charyl Chappuis, went all out in search of a goal.
They got what they came for, as two second-half goals from Chappuis and Kroekrit Thawikan put the game beyond reach for the Tigers.
The War Elephants looked nothing like their nickname, and played with the grace of gazelles, and will now go into Saturday's second leg at Bukit Jalil with a two-goal cushion.
