MediaCorp actress Yvonne Lim gets married, sports baby bump
Viewers are probably going to see a lot less of MediaCorp actress Yvonne Lim on television once her baby comes around.
Her baby bump stole some of the limelight at a press conference held just before her wedding banquet at Ritz-Carlton yesterday evening.
Lim, 37, celebrated her marriage to her husband, former Taiwanese boy band B.A.D member Alex Tien, 34, yesterday, at the wedding banquet attended by their families and friends.
Speaking to local media at a press conference before the banquet, Lim said: "I'll give birth to the baby in Singapore. When the baby can start travelling, we will take the baby to Taiwan to meet Alex's family as well.
"We will probably shuttle between the two countries in the future."
Lim is five months pregnant and hinted that the baby is a boy.
She added: "My husband does not allow me to work as I am pregnant, so I am decreasing my workload for the time being."
Her ever-protective partner would also like her to work less, especially after the baby arrives.
But, she added: "I hope to be able to go back to work in the second half of next year, as I am a workaholic."
The couple held their solemnisation in a private ceremony on Saturday at the Ritz-Carlton, where they exchanged vows and were pronounced husband and wife.
STARS IN ATTENDANCE
The banquet yesterday, which was hosted by radio DJ Dennis Chew and Irene Ang, had 49 tables and saw local stars like Zoe Tay, Zheng Geping, Hong Huifang, Chen Hanwei, Xiang Yun and more in attendance.
The six-course dinner included Hainanese chicken rice as one of the dishes.
A radiant Lim also performed a slow dance with Tien to the song At Last by Etta James.
On the choice of the song, Lim said: "I felt that it is very apt for us as it describes our journey from start till now."
The lovebirds had been friends for 10 years, but started dating only last year.
They announced their engagement in March, after six months of dating, when Tien popped the question during one of Lim's photo shoots.
The couple said they do not plan to spoil their child and will bring him up in a down-to-earth manner.
A candid Lim said chirpily: "No branded clothes for the baby. If you all have any hand-me-downs, please pass them to me.
"I think I will be the strict mother while Alex will be the more relaxed dad."
As Lim got pregnant before the wedding banquet, she had to make changes to her wedding gown, increasing the measurements by about 8cm to accommodate her growing baby bump.
She revealed that her weight also went above 50kg for the first time.
Lim attributed her weight gain to pregnancy cravings, as she had been craving french fries, deep-fried food and ice cream.
She said: "I will send Alex to buy whatever I want to eat. He really treats me like a queen, it's a good feeling."
LOVING HUSBAND
Tien had also played his part as a loving husband and father-to-be well, asking his close friends for tips and buying different types of stretch mark cream for Lim.
He said: "Everything with Yvonne so far is an adventure. I am very happy that we are becoming parents. I feel very lucky and blessed now."
Lim sang her husband's praises and said: "I give him full marks for being my husband.
"I have a more anxious personality while he is very chill; our characters complement each other very well. I feel happy to be marrying my best friend."
She added: "After marrying him, I feel that my life is more concrete now. I look forward to our journey together."
Local celebrities at the wedding gave the couple their blessings.
Zheng Geping, 50, said: "I wish them everlasting love and hope they make more babies."
Zheng's wife, Hong Huifang, 54, said: "I wish them happiness and everlasting love. Communication is the key to a blissful marriage.
"Hopefully, they can hurry and have even more kids in the future."
Host Dennis Chew, 41, added: "I wish the couple good health and happiness."
"My husband does not allow me to work as I am pregnant, so I am decreasing my workload for the time being."
