1 HUMOUR
Andy Samberg, 38, has been obsessed with US TV skit series Saturday Night Live (SNL) since he was a child, long before he became a regular on it since 2005. The alumnus of New York University's Tisch School of the Arts formed a comedy troupe called The Lonely Island with high school friends Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone, and they would post their short films and music on YouTube.
2 KA-CHING
Samberg was also a writer for SNL. According to Celebrity Net Worth, the majority of his income comes from his TV career, which also includes the Golden Globe-winning sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine. He's said to have a net worth of US$16 million (S$22 million).
3 ANIMATED
He has also starred in a string of animated films including Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs and Hotel Transylvania.
His latest offering is Storks, where he voices lead character Junior. Once a baby-delivering service, storks on Stork Mountain changed their career path to become couriers for global e-shop Cornerstore.com. Junior is the top deliverer of packages, but a baby suddenly comes along and threatens to destroy his career.
Opening here tomorrow, Storks also features the voice talents of Kelsey Grammer, Jennifer Aniston, Ty Burrell and Katie Crown.
4 VOICE WORK
On the perks of doing animated films, Samberg told Mail Tribune: "What I like about it is not having to wear make-up and how low of a commitment it is, time-wise, and still getting to be in a movie."
While his past roles mainly required him to record solo in the studio, he paired up with Crown for Storks. Crown voices Tulip, the only human on Stork Mountain.
Samberg said he had room for improvisations and there was more "looseness" in their performances.
5 FATHERHOOD
Even though he's "pro family", Samberg is in no hurry to start his own with his wife of three years, US musician Joanna Newsom.
He said he's "too irresponsible and always wanting to have fun".
"I would make a terrible dad."
