Movie Review: Mr Six (M18)
Mr. Six could pass off as a typical gangster movie with its cool poster and display of machismo.
But it turns out to be so much more than just another action flick.
The story revolves around the titular character (Feng Xiaogang), a reformed hoodlum in his 50s struggling with niggling heart problems and a strained relationship with his rebellious son Xiaobo (Li Yifeng).
When Xiaobo is held hostage by rich kid Xiaofei (Kris Wu), Mr. Six summons his old rusty-faced pals to save his child.
Introspective and surrealistic at times - in one scene, an ostrich races through Beijing's maddening traffic - it's boosted by excellent performances all round.
