The Cannes Film Festival came to a close earlier this week and with that, we bid adieu to the best fashion of 2015 and reluctantly settle back into reality, says JEANMARIE TAN

CHANEL IMAN (A)

amfAR Annual Cinema Against Aids at the Cannes International Film Festival in Antibes, France

Gown: Zuhair Murad

It is as bridal as can be, but if I ever walk down the aisle again, her breathtaking white floral applique and nude tulle princess ball gown is it. Of course I am no leggy supermodel and I can probably afford only a sleeve, but one can dream. That's why they call it a dream dress right?

EMMA MILLER (A-)

amfAR Annual Cinema Against Aids at the Cannes International Film Festival

Gown: Zeynep Kartal

Runner-up gown for the wedding-in-my-head. I am drooling over how this heavenly blush and rose gold ruffled confection fits the British model like it was custom-made.

ANJA RUBIKAMFAR (B)

Annual Cinema Against Aids at the Cannes International Film Festival

Gown: Dsquared2

Polish stick insect Rubik has always given me Eurotrash vibes, but you can't deny the glorious electric blue colour is everything.

DITA VON TEESE (B)

amfAR Annual Cinema Against Aids at the Cannes International Film Festival

Dress: Ulyana Sergeenko

Clutch: Swarovski

Shoes: Giuseppe Zanotti

If anyone is missing a lampshade from Wonderland, you know where to find it. It is cute, quirky and very much in the burlesque queen's wheelhouse.

MARION COTILLARD (C-)

Photocall for Macbeth at the Cannes International Film Festival in Cannes, France

Jumpsuit: Ulyana Sergeenko

Shoes: Giuseppe Zanotti

Why does she insist on trolling us at these big events? Cotillard must have really lost the plot to come out of the house in clown pyjamas and metallic pink mules - together, they just don't make any sense.

PINK (F)

Annual Elle Women in Music Celebration in Los Angeles

Outfit: Not known

Pink, what did I tell you about going home and starting over? That was a mere two weeks ago. You have gone from ultra-feminine flop to uber-butch bomb. For your unrepentance and recalcitrance, say hello to your second F.

WHO WORE
IT BETTER?

SOPHIE MARCEAU (Top)

Screening of Maryland (Disorder) at the Cannes International Film Festival, May 16

Gown: Vionnet

LI YUCHUN (Above)

Screening of The Little Prince at the Cannes International Film Festival, May 22

Gown: Jean Paul Gaultier

Kudos for going against the grain, but the black-and-white dress-trousers Victor/Victoria hybrid CANNOT and MUST NOT become a thing. Doesn't Marceau look insane? It's like she couldn't decide between her leather pants and her Grecian gown, so she got all scissors-happy and the worst of both worlds happened. Ringmistress Li's version appears more sophisticated - that single glove seals it.

MOST IMPROVED

HOFIT GOLAN

Screening of Irrational Man at the Cannes International Film Festival, May 15

Jumpsuit: Stephane Rolland

amfAR Annual Cinema Against AIDS at the Cannes International Film Festival, May 21

Gown: Zuhair Murad

The festival was also awash with D-listers, hangers-on, faux royalty and their ilk. Golan is a combination of all that - she turns up only during this time of the year and is notorious for her sartorial howlers. She doesn't disappoint with her tragic 70s-inspired jumpsuit. But who knew she could do bona fide glamazon in a gorgeous, glittery dove grey winner? Hofit Golan, just who ARE you?!

HONOURABLE MAN-TION

XAVIER DOLAN

Screening of Macbeth at the Cannes International Film Festival

Suit: Not known

The dishy Canadian actor-director was probably the most fashionable fella at Cannes. Heavy black shoes aside, his fun and fabulous dusty pink printed ensemble makes me smile for breaking up the usual monochrome.

"Only wear solids? Don’t wear bright colours? That’s not real. Somebody made up these rules and I disagree."
