Here are our 7 favourite celeb looks from Cannes so far
It's only been a day into the festivities at the annual Cannes Film Festival in France, but we're a bit dizzy from the many gorgeous celebrity looks that have been put together.
The festival opened yesterday with a star-studded red carpet, with celebrities from Hollywood, France, India and China on hand for the premiere of Nicole Kidman's new film, Grace of Monaco, which is also the festival's opening film.
Here were yesterday's best dresses:
Blake Lively
Nothing makes a classic silhouette cooler than an interesting neckline, so props to Lively, 26, for choosing this chiffon dress from Gucci with its interesting geometric touches. That thigh-high slit and the interesting burgundy colour gives it that warrior chic vibe.
Zhang Ziyi
Talk about hot haute couture. Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi, 35, turned up in a couture dress by Fashion designer Stephane Rolland which features a detailed bodice juxtaposed with a soft white skirt with a ruffle on the side.
Kendall Jenner
The Kardashians' second youngest sister was another one who did well with a cool black-and-white dress. While Zhang went for an edgy top with a classy skirt, Jenner, 18, reversed that with this dress from the Chanel resort '14 collection. On anyone else that messy white top could have looked bad, but Jenner, who is a model, pulled the classy-trashy look with ease.
Karlie Kloss
Not everyone will be a fan of this Victorian dress, but you've got to hand it to model Karlie Kloss for always making interesting fashion choices.
This lace Valentino gown plays with the concept of both too much and too little, and even while she's draped in tons of burgundy and green lace, Kloss, 21, still gets to play peekaboo tastefully with her partially see-through skirt.
Zoe Saldana
This soft all-white look, accessorised with a metal chain belt, is a refreshing one from Saldana, 35, but what makes it truly surprising is that it's a dress from former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham, known more for her structured, dark and minimalist fashion.
Laetitia Casta
Not everyone can pull of ruffles and a shape that makes your butt look bigger, but Laetitia Casta, 36, is not everyone.
The former Guess model and Victoria's Secret Angel and "face of France" - in 1999, she was voted the best choice to symbolise Marianne, a national emblem of the French Republic - pulls off this Christian Dior couture gown with aplomb.
Nicole Kidman
It's fitting that the star of Grace of Monaco, Nicole Kidman, looked like a princess herself at the movie's premiere. This Armani Prive gown is as old school as they come - with a sweetheart neckline, padded hips and ornate embellishment - but it's also perfectly regal. A definite show stopper.
