See how the SilkAir uniform has evolved over the years
Expect some new style in the aisle when travelling on SilkAir.
Gone are the pale green and terracotta wraps the airline's flight attendants have graced flights in since 2004.
After 11 years, SilkAir has launched a new collection of threads for its cabin crew.
That was then...
This is now...
It's aqua-blue for junior crew and plum-red for senior crew. Both are matched with a dark blue skirt and a seagull-patterned georgette bow on the right shoulder signifying the airline's logo.
The new look, according to the press release, creates "deeper synergies with the image of SilkAir's parent company, Singapore Airlines (SIA)".
The new look also features an asymmetric neckline and sleeve pleats. The pleats "mirror SilkAir’s attention to detail and thoughtful service with a touch of surprise".
Chief Executive of SilkAir, Mr Leslie Thng described the change in uniform as a milestone.
Designed by Nanyang Academy Of Fine Arts graduate Alexandria Chen, this new look is the fourth uniform design worn by SilkAir cabin crew.
She said of her design:
“The aesthetics were just as important as the practicality . The new uniform is stylishly cut... easy to wear, flexible and comfortable.”
Launched at ION Orchard, footage of the outfits in action has hit social media.
The design is very different and certainly quieter from what the airline began with back in 1989.
