2 directors asked to 'step aside' at Sports Hub

Sports Hub Pte Ltd (SHPL), a consortium of firms which run the $1.33 billion Singapore Sports Hub, confirmed yesterday that two members of its senior management had been asked to step aside.

Global Spectrum Pico managing director Mark Collins and Global Spectrum Pico director of contracts and compliance Daphne Letournel have "stepped aside", it said.

"The team remains focused on ensuring a seamless and integrated delivery of world-class sports, entertainment and lifestyle events at Sports Hub," its statement said.

"We will not be commenting any further on this internal matter."

SHPL said Mr Jason Hrick will replace Mr Collins as acting managing director and will report to SHPL chief executive officer Manu Sawhney, who took over in October. Ms Letournel's replacement will be announced at a later date.

No details were given regarding the redeployment of Mr Collins and Ms Letournel.

The Straits Times quoted sources as saying that several senior staff members at the Sports Hub have not agreed with recent decisions of the new management.

Citing high costs, at least two events - a football tournament and an athletics championship - have pulled out of negotiations, the newspaper reported on its website.

The Sports Hub was built under a 25-year public-private partnership with the Singapore Government. The SHPL consortium comprises four partners - InfraRed Capital Partners, Dragages Singapore, DTZ Facilities & Engineering (S) Limited and Global Spectrum Pico.

NDP BACK AT STADIUM

The Sports Hub also said yesterday that next year's National Day Parade will return to the National Stadium for the first time in a decade.

BG Kenneth Liow, chairman of the NDP 2016 Executive Committee, confirmed the news.

The Straits Times reported last week that the venue had not been confirmed because of negotiations over the cost of renting the 55,000-seater stadium.
