Glenn Ong and The Flying Dutchman back together on ONE FM
One man called in and declared that he couldn't get enough of them.
Another said that he had been headed for depression because he missed them too much.
These were the confessions of ardent fans welcoming DJs Glenn Ong and The Flying Dutchman - whose real name is Mark van Cuylenburg - back on radio with ONE FM 91.3.
ONE FM is the only radio station in Singapore that targets men above 30.
Ong and FD last worked together two years ago and now join DJs Andre Hoeden, Ellliott Danker and producer "Commando" Shaun on the breakfast show, on weekday mornings 6 - 10am.
"Good morning Singapore! I waited six months to say this," said van Cuylenburg, who is also known simply as FD.
After months of teasing, the station revealed their identity at 8am on Monday (July 6).
The pair picked up right where they left off, with witty repartee and no-holds-barred insults aplenty.
In between FD calling his own nose a Peninsula and asking the producer if he's called Commando because he goes it, there were laughs aplenty among the five guys.
Fans were ecstatic about the news on ONE FM's Facebook page.
"Best news of the day. Great to have the brothers back on the air. What more can we ask for," wrote Christopher Headech.
Zed Jumat posted: "Yay! Now I'm a permanent ONE FM convert."
Wrote Regine Chew: "Welcome back... My morning has come alive again."
The New Paper interviewed the two DJs about what made them want to come out of semi-retirement from radio.
Both spoke of how they realised how much they missed the medium, and how ONE FM's mix felt right.
But the other reason is getting to reunite and see the chemistry work as well as it ever did before.
They even turned up to the interview in the same outfits.
"We think alike!," said Ong.
"Also he loves me too much to leave me alone for that long," joked FD.
That and how one of them came close to leaking the secret.
"I can keep a secret," exclaimed van Cuylenburg in mock outrage.
"He's hopeless," he added pointing to Ong.
