Our block party rocks residents' day

Lured by the sound of music, the people were drawn to the tent that was abuzz with activities.

It was the second round of the Our Blocks Rock parties, this time held at the open field next to Hougang MRT station yesterday and today.

You can get a sketch of your face, try your hand at Indian handicrafts or have a go on a Spyder bike, a three-wheeled motorcycle.

Think of it as a unique version of a traditional pasar malam.

Residents of Bedok Reservoir-Punggol who were at the party yesterday were pleased with the variety of activities.

Ms Ray Lai, 24, a student, said: "I think this is a good initiative for people to come together and bond with the various activities that the party has to offer."

Ms Wong Fei Wan, 41, enjoyed the party with her daughter.

Said the housewife: "I read about the party and wanted to come down. It's quite fun, (especially) for the children. My daughter loves the henna the best."
