Actress Hansika Motwani gets crowd going on second night of South Indian International Movie Awards
Actress Hansika Motwani stole the show at last night's South Indian International Movie Awards (SIIMA).
The 24-year-old beauty made her Egyptian-themed entrance on a throne, which was carried onstage by her backup dancers, dressed as pharaohs in gold get-ups.
Complete with three outfit changes that showed off her curves, she put up an energetic performance of five songs from movies throughout her career.
Halfway, she even walked offstage to dance with her Romeo Juliet co-star Jayam Ravi, who was seated in the front row.
She then made her way to the middle of the crowd and got the audience at the Suntec Convention and Exhibition Centre to clap along.
Last night was the second of the two-day awards show, where the biggest stars from the South Indian film industry are celebrated.
Hansika, Anirudh Ravichander, Sai Pallavi, Prakash Raj, Radikaa Sarathkumar and Vedhika Pooja Kumar got the biggest reactions as they stopped to take pictures with fans.Vedhika Pooja Kumar
The awards show, co-hosted by comedians Shiva and Sathish Krishnan, later saw actresses Dhanya Balakrishna and Shreya Dhanwanthary take to the stage.
The 6,000-strong crowd, who paid between $45 and $325, were wowed by a dance performance by Amyra Dastur and Aishwarya Rajesh, complete with dazzling outfit changes.
Malayalam actor Neeraj Madhav also put on a upbeat dance performance.
Crowd favourite Anirudh, 25, of Kolaveri Di fame, took home two of the biggest music awards for the night.
"This is my first award as a singer. When I was doing music for my first movie, I never wanted to sing and just wanted to focus on music direction, but I'm glad I took that leap of faith.
"I hope to come back next year, and receive one more."
He then launched into his latest song, Senjitaley, from Sivakarthikeyan's movie Remo.
The awards show is promoted by Tamil Murasu and tabla!, two publications of Singapore Press Holdings, along with events company De Ldeaz. The event is supported by State Bank of India and HDFC Home Loans.
