He makes Facebook appeal for info on dad's car accident
The son of one of the drivers involved in a six-car accident in Yishun on Saturday has made a public appeal on his Facebook page, asking for witnesses to step forward.
Mr Leonard Tan's father, 62, was trapped in his black Toyota after the collision at a traffic light at the junction of Gambas Avenue, Yishun Avenue 7 and Sembawang Road.
He had to be rescued by emergency personnel.
Mr Tan shared Chinese daily Lianhe Wanbao's video of the aftermath of the accident on Facebook on Sunday at 12.07am and added his own caption about how his father had been involved.
He said the car had been smashed in half and his father was then in the intensive care unit (ICU).
When asked about his father's condition, Mr Tan, who works for an online store, told The New Paper last night that his father was just moved from the ICU to the regular ward.
"He still can't move and has a blood clot in his head. He is so weak he can't even answer the investigating officer's questions."
In the accident at 12.15pm on Saturday, one of the cars, a black Honda, was forced onto the road divider.
The Honda car driver, 29, who declined to be named, told Lianhe Wanbao: "I had stopped for a red light in the extreme right lane (of Gambas Avenue). Suddenly, my car was hit hard from the back and before I could react, my car had already mounted the road divider."
WITH FAMILY
The self-employed man added that during the accident, his wife and daughter were with him.
While his wife escaped unscathed, his young daughter sustained minor abrasions on her knees.
The other three cars were mildly damaged.
A Singapore Civil Defence Force spokesman said two people had been taken to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital - a pregnant woman, 30, who had sustained minor injuries and Mr Tan's father, who had been rescued by SCDF officers using hydraulic rescue tools.
A police spokesman said investigations are ongoing.
