Texas chicken, Singapore style
The New Paper Courts Big Walk and sponsor Texas Chicken share goal of promoting family bonding
When in Singapore, eat as Singaporeans do.
That is why Texas Chicken offers flavours such as sambal and laksa.
And customers here enjoyed the flavours so much that they wrote on Texas Chicken's Facebook page, asking that the limited-edition flavours remain on the menu.
Mr Eugene Lim, marketing director of Select Group that runs Texas Chicken in Singapore, said: "Texas Chicken is always trying to create flavours that local customers can easily accept because it is related to our culture.
"Local customers found these flavours interesting, instead of typical American flavours."
He added: "Texas Chicken's food is something everyone can appreciate because everyone can eat chicken."

Texas Chicken is one of the sponsors for The New Paper Courts Big Walk 2016.
Mr Lim said: "We are very happy to be collaborating with this year's The New Paper Courts Big Walk because Texas Chicken wants to bring more fun to the walk.
"There are a lot of walks out there, but The New Paper Courts Big Walk is one of a few that allow people to have a casual walk, to take their time and enjoy each other's company."
He added: "This year's walk is going to be held in the Singapore Zoo and it's going to be a really different experience from just walking in the street. Children and parents can have a casual and natural bonding session while looking at the animals, which will definitely be very enjoyable."
And the company shares a common goal with the Big Walk - to promote family bonding.
SYNERGY
Mr Lim feels that the collaboration creates a strong brand synergy.
He also revealed that a surprise is in the works for participants.
Mr Lim said: "Texas Chicken is a young, exciting brand and all our products are daring and innovative."
And on top of that, they serve "100 per cent fresh chicken from farms daily".
Last month, Texas Chicken opened the franchise's 500th international restaurant at Resorts World Sentosa.
Mr Jim Hyatt, 60, the global chief executive officer of Texas Chicken, gave a rare cooking demonstration when he officiated at the restaurant's opening.
He told TNP at the opening ceremony: "We like to do palettes and local profiles, which vary from country-to-country.
"In Singapore, we have the garlic and herb flavour this month, along with the signature original and spicy flavours."
Texas Chicken, known as Church's Chicken in North America, was founded 64 years ago in San Antonio, Texas. The organisation has become an international brand with 1,200 branches in the US and more than 500 overseas.
A year ago, Texas Chicken entered the Singapore market under Select Group.
Since then, 13 branches have opened, with the newest at Centrepoint mall on Orchard Road.
"Children and parents can have a casual and natural bonding session while looking at the animals, which will definitely be very enjoyable."
