Man who accused Malaysian PM Najib of murder held by police
A man who put up a Facebook post last week accusing Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak and his wife of multiple murders is being investigated for sedition.
Faisal Rohban had linked the couple to several high profile deaths in the country including that of Mongolian Altantuya Shaariibuu.
He added: "Those two don’t have any other work to do?"
Malaysia's Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar, who saw the post, tweeted about it on Wednesday (Nov 25) and ordered the man's arrest.
Mr Khalid said on Sunday (Nov 29): "People should not post irresponsible things on social media as it can cause unrest."
Police have recorded a statement from Faisal, who is being investigated under the Sedition Act, The Star reported on Monday (Nov 30).
His mobile phone has reportedly been confiscated by authorities.
The Malaysian Insider reported Faisal as saying that he was ready to be investigated by police.
"I would like to ask you, my friends, to not question what IGP (Mr Khalid) had said. Let police investigate. Maybe there were mistakes in there (the Facebook post) that I was not aware of. I was only being cynical," he said.
